POTC #19 of 30

I have decided to make a king size quilt – something I would NEVER have considered before I discovered that I could send my quilts to the US to be quilted by a professional long arm quilter. My appliqued angel quilt is at Jackie’s right now – check out her site Canton Village Quilt Works.

I’ve done the math and a sketch on graph paper and I’ve determined I need 6 rows across and 5 rows down with a 6″ border – that gives me an 18″ drop on three sides.

I have one block in progress and four more cut out and ready to sew. I have chosen the fabric for the remaining six using some brand new Kaffe Fassett “Serape Stripes” I just received from equilter.com.

I love this one – these are my favorite colors!

I have two more blocks printed and cut out. Before I prep any more I am awaiting the arrival of an order of  Kaffe Fassett’s and Rowan designers fabric from Glorious Color - and an order of dots and stripes from equilter.com. I wish Kaffe would design more “blender” fabrics to coordinate with his large florals and other prints – some  smaller all over prints – more dots, stripes and checks.

POTC #14

This is #14 – but only #12 of the blocks that will be used in the final quilt.

12 POTC's

Half way there – I’ve decided to make it 4×6 – 24 blocks. I am not going to join them like the Lucy Boston quilt – which has a row of white around each block. Since I have enlarged the pattern 150% that is just too much white. I am going to have to figure out a way to have just one row of white connectors. The three hexagons joining each block is easy – but the squares are going to be a bit more difficult. I envision a little square of assorted prints in the white square – or maybe black and white dots – way too soon to worry about that!

POTC #12 and #13

Coming along – slowly but surely. The greens look a little muddy and the lavenders look grayish – the colors are clearer and brighter than they appear.
